Earlier last week, the tender for the Poceirao to Madrid section of the Lisbon-Madrid high speed rail project was launched by the Portuguese rail authority (RAVE).The €1.93bn ($2.5bn) project will be procured under a 40-year DBFO concession. The project includes a third crossing over the Tagus River and will be largely backed by availability payments. Funding will also be provided via a €171m European Union subsidy and a small amount of income linked to train numbers.The Lisbon-Poceirao Section is part of the larger Lisbon-Madrid high speed rail project encompassing six projects, with a combined value of €8.5bn in total. Other projects for the Lisbon-Madrid scheme include the development of four sections of the Lisbon-Madrid high speed rail (Lisbon to Pombal, Pombal to Porto, Poceirao to Caia, and Braga to Valenca) and the linked signaling and telecoms deal for the Valenca-Lisbon-Caia route.
